چکیده

Energy use for space heating is a substantial part of total energy end and systems can offer some flexibility in time use, which should be important future to maintain balance between supply demand. This work applies techno-economic, integrated, demand-supply optimization model investigate the combined effect using demand-side from buildings, by allowing indoor temperature deviations (both up- downward set-point), supply-side flexibility, applying thermal storage (TES), on operation district (DH) systems. The results indicate that potential increased temperature, i.e., demand response (DR), concentrated multi-family non-residential buildings (heavy with high time-constants), while downregulation operational savings, utilized greater extent single-family (light buildings). It also evident value DR diminishes presence TES. We show both centralized TES complementary system perspective it lowest load running cost DH system.

Demand Response and Energy Storage for Zero Energy Residential Buildings

The EU climate and energy targets and the decreasing costs have been leading to a growing utilization of solar photovoltaic generation in residential buildings. However, even in buildings with the same level of yearly generation and consumption the mismatch between the demand and the photovoltaic generation profiles leads to high power flows between the household and the grid, which is an ineff...

The use of distributed thermal storage in district heating grids for demand side management

The work presented in this paper relates to a small scale district heating network heated by a gas fired CHP. In most common situations, such a CHP is heat driven operated, meaning that the CHP will switch on whenever heat is needed, while not taking into account the demand of electricity at that time. In this paper however, an active control strategy is developed, aiming to maximize the profit...

Thermal Transients in District Heating Systems

Heat fluxes in a district heating pipeline systems need to be controlled on the scale from minutes to an hour to adjust to evolving demand. There are two principal ways to control the heat flux keep temperature fixed but adjust velocity of the carrier (typically water) or keep the velocity flow steady but then adjust temperature at the heat producing source (heat plant). We study the latter sce...
